Name My Newest Design Contest

I'm so excited to show you my newest  design. This shawl is winged and has a lace edging.
The pattern is with my test knitters right now and the only thing I need before I can publish it is a name.
Post a comment with your suggestion. I will choose a name from there. The person who posted this name will get a free pattern of this shawl + the yarn to knit it.

I'm looking forward to your posts. I will pick the name and winner on Friday, November 12th, 2010.

When I look at this shawl I see: "Aurora Borealis"/ "Lights in the Sky." Beautiful!

Very pretty. I like the details in the lace part.

I was caught up by the wingedness of the shawl. I suggest Vikare which is the Etruscan variation of Icarus. It's a snappy little name, and something different, yet it still has a history.

No name, but I have to tell you this shawl is beautiful. I have a skein of Ellyn's lace yarn looking for just the right pattern. I think I just found it. Make sure you let me know when this pattern is available.

I think Icarus is a great name!

I suggest Coriolis, as for the Coriolis force which deflects air currents in the northern hemisphere to the right and to the left in the sourthern hemisphere. The zigzagging lacy border reminds me of that force - and the wings seem to fly on air currents.

Beautiful shawl!

You know, I love the design. My suggestion is "Wavebird" because of the wavy/ winged design.

Nice shawl!
The first thing which came into my mind was "Montana"
No real exlanation for this, maybe just the colours and I have this CD cover in mind:
http://www.amazon.de/Montana-Love-Story-George-Winston/dp/B0007WD8FK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1289125025&sr=8-1
Listen to the music - it fits to the scarf!!!

Lovely lovely pattern - my suggestion is Mountain Sunset as the colorway joins the indigos and purlples of twilight with the brighter colors of the setting sun...

This is a beautiful shawl. I've been thinking about a name for a few days actually...

The edging reminds me of layers of rock that are slowly eroded by water. I'm not sure the shape is pointy enough to justify "Stalagtite" as a name, but while looking at pictures, this one really jumped out at me: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/45/Phongnhacave.jpg

The way the stalactites are arranged in this picture remind me so strongly of your shawl. Of course this is compounded by the colours, but even without them the basic shapes seem very similar. So I'd suggest "Phong Nha", the name of this cave.

So...i have a name suggestion! I am submitting ...."Cygnus". This is the northern constellation for the Swan. Thanks for inviting us into naming your creation!
Gorgeous shawl! It is on my ToDo List as of right now!

I'm not good at names but I'll have a go:

Hi! Just popped over at Stephanie's suggestion. Never could resist a contest anyway! Funny how my first ideas for a name are already mentioned in another post - must mean it is truly inspired by the design itself.

Since "Aurora Borealis" is already taken, what about

"Sparkling Berries"? The sample has all my favorite jewel tones in it, and the border design reminds me of the quilt pattern with the baskets (don't recall if it has berries in the name or not, but it should).

IKRAN, that is how the Na'vi call the colorful winged flying things (birds?) in the movie AVATAR.

Unfortunately for me, "Aurora Borealis" has already been used. Absolutely beautiful shawl.

How about "Wings over New England"?

A beautiful shawl! Evening sunset comes to mind. I am influenced by the gorgeous colors in the shawl, but the ripple effect reminds me of clouds at sunset.
